For Life
The Second Bereavement Guarantee

60-day returns, unworn and unfilled. If the chain, the clasp or the seal ever fails — this year or in twenty — we replace it free. If a pendant is lost, we replace the piece at cost so you can refill it from home.

Jewelry sizing

The pendant
20mm across and 26mm tall, about the size of a thumbnail. Large enough to read, small enough to disappear under a collar when you would rather not explain it.

The chamber
Holds roughly a pinch, a small spoonful. You will not need more than that, and the rest of them stays at home exactly as it was.

The chain
Stainless steel cable chain, in the same steel as the pendant, so the two will not age differently.

From people who carry them

Someone always asks about it. That's the point.

I was so afraid wearing him would feel strange. It doesn't. It feels like he came back from an errand and we go everywhere together again.

I read the horror stories — spilled ashes, chains that snap. This one has real weight to it. I sealed it once at my kitchen table and haven't worried since.

A woman in line at the pharmacy asked about it last week, and I got to say Nala's name out loud to a stranger. That's the part I didn't expect — you get to talk about them again.

Carved for a dog, two hundred years ago
Beauty without Vanity, Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, and all the Virtues of Man without his Vices.

Lord Byron, for his dog Boatswain — Newstead Abbey, 1808

People have carried their loved ones for as long as there have been people. You are not strange for wanting to keep them close. You are simply the first generation told not to.

The hardest part, made gentle

Ten quiet minutes, at your own table, in your own time

Ashes are not powder — they are fine sand with small fragments. Use the spoon for the lifting and the funnel for the last of it, and take it as slowly as you need to.

Fourteen seconds, on a loop, with no sound. Watch it as many times as you need.

There is no clock on this. Some people fill theirs the week it arrives; others set the kit aside and come back to it a year later. Both are right, and it will be waiting either way.

Ashes are not ash

Built for what cremains truly are

Nobody tells you this, so we will: cremation ashes are not fine powder. They are soft sand with small fragments, and a pendant with a pin-sized hole and nothing in the box to fill it with is no use to you at all. A funnel and a spoon come with every order.

  • A spoon, for the lifting Ashes move better lifted than poured. You only need a pinch, and the rest stays safely at home.
  • A funnel, for the last of it Both come in the box. Nothing improvised out of folded paper, nothing balanced over a paper towel.
  • Twenty by twenty-six millimetres A chamber with room in it, on a pendant big enough to read. Take as long as you need over filling it.
They were not only yours

One for everyone who loved them.

Your partner. The kids, grown now and living somewhere else. Your mother, who had them every summer. The friend who walked them when you were away. They lost something too, and most of them will never say so out loud. Splitting a pinch between several pendants isn't dividing them — it's sharing them.

  • Every one arrives complete However many you order, each is a whole necklace with its own funnel and spoon. There is nothing to share out but them.
  • It says the thing a card cannot Handing one to someone else who loved them tells them they are allowed to still be sad about this. Most people are waiting to be told that.

Built against every way the cheap ones fail

Feature The $9 pendant The Always Heart
The seal A bare screw that works loose — buyers resort to gluing it shut Screw-down plug seated on a rubber O-ring, so it cannot shake itself loose
Size Fingernail-small — reviewers say the engraving cannot be read 20 by 26 millimetres. Big enough to read, and to hold a real measure
Metal Plated base metal that flakes, tarnishes, and turns skin green Solid stainless steel that will not fade, warp, or rust
Filling A pin-sized hole, and nothing in the box to fill it with A funnel and a spoon, both included
Chain The most common one-star review: “the chain broke” A matching stainless steel chain, in the same steel as the pendant
Asked quietly, answered plainly

Everything else you might be wondering

Is it weird to wear my pet's ashes?

No, and the instinct is far older than you are. Roman families carved epitaphs for their dogs. Victorian England wore lockets of hair as a matter of course. Keeping someone you loved where you can reach them is one of the oldest human instincts there is, and the only strange thing about it is how recently we were told to be quiet about it.

Worn, it reads as a small steel heart on a chain. Nobody knows what is inside it unless you decide to tell them.

I can't face the filling. What if I ruin it?

Nobody warns you what ashes actually are. They are not powder. They are closer to fine sand with small fragments in it, which is why a pin sized hole and nothing in the box to fill it with is no use to anyone. A funnel and a small spoon come with every order.

Work over a sheet of paper or a shallow bowl, so anything that misses goes back where it came from. Use the spoon to lift and the funnel for the last of it. It takes about ten minutes and there is nothing to improvise.

If today is not the day, it will keep. Some people fill theirs the week it arrives. Others set the kit in a drawer and come back a year later. Both are right. And if you would rather not do it at all, someone else who loved them can do it for you.

What if it fails and I lose them again, through my own carelessness?

This is the fear worth answering properly, so here is the honest answer in three parts.

The seal. The plug screws down onto a rubber O-ring. That ring is the part the cheap pendants leave out, and the reason their reviews are full of people gluing them shut. Screw it down until it seats and stops.

The part that actually protects you. Fill it with a pinch and keep the rest at home. Then no single object is ever the whole of them, and nothing that happens to a necklace can undo what you already have. This is the reason we ask for a pinch rather than everything.

If something does go wrong. If the chain, the clasp or the seal ever fails, this year or in twenty, we replace it free. If a pendant is lost, we replace the piece at cost, forever, so you can refill it from home. A clasp giving way in a car park is not carelessness, and we do not treat it as though it were.

I don't have any ashes.

Then fill it with something else of theirs. Fur, a whisker, a clipping of nail, a thread from a collar, a pinch of soil from where they are buried. Any of it belongs in there.

Plenty of people who order have no ashes at all. They scattered them years ago, or buried them in the garden, or the cremation was communal and nothing came back. None of that puts this out of reach. What matters is that the thing inside was theirs.

Wouldn't something cheap dishonor them?

It would, which is why this is not that. We read the one star reviews on the nine dollar pendants and built against every one of them.

Solid stainless steel the whole way through rather than plated base metal, so there is no thin coat to flake off, tarnish, or leave a green mark on your skin. Twenty millimetres across and twenty six tall, big enough that the engraving can actually be read rather than guessed at. A screw down plug on a rubber O-ring instead of a bare thread. A matching steel chain in the same steel as the pendant, because the single most common one star review on the cheap ones is that the chain broke.

The front reads Always in my heart in script with three paw prints, cut into the steel rather than printed on top of it, so wearing it will not wear it away.

Is it self-indulgent to spend this right after the vet bills?

You have probably spent more on a single night at the emergency clinic than this costs, and you did not call that indulgent. You called it what they were worth.

This is the same thing, arriving later. It is also the last thing you will ever buy for them, and it is not a subscription, a course of treatment, or something that runs out. It is one object that lasts.

If it comes and it is not right, send it back unworn and unfilled within 60 days for a full refund. You are not gambling the money.

How much does it hold? Is a pinch really enough?

The chamber takes roughly a pinch, about a small spoonful. Less than you feared, and far less than you have to give up.

A spoonful of them is not a smaller portion of them. It is the same animal, near you, all day. The rest stays at home exactly as it was, which is deliberate. A pendant that held everything would be a pendant you were afraid to wear.

And if more than one person is grieving them, a pinch each is enough for several. Splitting them between the people who loved them is not dividing them. It is sharing them.

Can I really wear it every day?

That is what it is built for. Solid stainless steel does not rust, tarnish, or fade, and there is no plating on it to wear through, so daily wear does nothing to it. Shower in it if you like.

Swimming we would think twice about, and not because of the steel. A clasp is the likeliest thing to give in a pool, and what is inside cannot be replaced.

At twenty by twenty six millimetres it sits flat and reads as a small heart on a chain, close enough to the neck to tuck under a collar on the days you would rather not explain it to anyone.
